Laurel Taylor is a candidate in the joint Japanese and Comparative Literature program.

Taylor holds a certificate from Washington University's Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies graduate program, an MFA in literary translation from the University of Iowa and a bachelor's degree in Japanese Studies from Middlebury College. She is the recipient of a 2020-2021 Fulbright Research Grant for her dissertation research, "Moved: Affective Bonds in Online Literary Media," which explores the ways in which affect drives literary production via new digital platforms. She is also a 2022-2023 Graduate Student Fellow at Washington University's Center for the Humanities. In her free time, she practices creative writing and literary translation and indulges in cheesy dramas from East Asia.
